Ruth 4:1-12Heart and Healing1. When has someone asked for a special blessing on your life? Both times that come to mind have to do with healing. The first time is when close family and friends gathered in our living room the night before my cancer surgery. We read scripture, sang worship songs, and then our pastor anointed my head with oil, praying a prayer of blessing for peace and healing. The second time was when we were trying to conceive our second child. I was filled with the fear that the birth would result in trauma just like Mikail endured. I think the fear and stress this was causing me wasn’t helping us conceive. We were on holidays visiting family and attended a church we don’t normally attend. Individuals were invited to come to the front for prayer, if they felt called. I normally don’t ‘feel called’, but something in me pulled me to the front of the Church and a wonderful pastor, prayed a prayer of blessing for peace and healing as she anointed my head with oil. 2 weeks later Olivia was conceived. I am not saying that prayers of blessing have to include anointing of oil, I have received blessings without this act. These are just two very, very apparent prayers of blessings I have received.2. If you were to ask God to bless someone's life, who would it be and what would you like to ask for?It would be for healing (physical, spiritual, mental) for various different people in my life. Whether it be cancer, the spirit of fear, infertility, depression, loneliness, the list goes on. We have so many people in our lives that need prayers of blessing.3. Who is someone that God has sent into your life to help you in some very meaningful ways? How might God be inviting you to step into someone's life and intentionally help someone?I have been praying for a heart friend since we moved to this new community. God has answered my prayer in a totally different way than I would have expected, giving me prayer warrior, accountability partner, and encourager 8000 kms away. We have been intentionally communicating on an almost daily basis. What a blessing.4. When has a “city gate witness” held you accountable for a transaction or promise you made to someone else?Lately this has been my husband, reminding me of the responsibilities of a promise kept, even when I am at my rope’s end with exhaustion. He’s so good at this in his kind and gentle way.
