Do you have a stack of books that you hope to read through this year? The stack beside my bed is made up of fiction books. I like to read before I go to sleep because entering an imaginary world is the best way to shut my brain off to the real life story that takes place during the day. I am blessed in that the fiction books my parents read, I get once they are done with them. I would love to know what is in your stack of books. Here is what I have read so far this year, or am in the middle of reading right now. Each image is linked to Amazon, in case you are interested in knowing more about each book:
Devotional:
I would highly recommend this devotional. Each daily reading is short and packed with so much goodness:
Non-Fiction:
These are books I have read for some courses I am taking and they are incredible in helping us understand ourselves and the relationships we are in.
Audio Books:
One of my goals this year, is to take time to ‘just be’. For me that is nearly impossible to do at home, so I have committed to driving to Olivia’s school thirty minutes before school is over and sit in the parking lot so I can ‘just be’ and listen to an audio book. I have quite a few on my ‘must listen to’ list. I finished Get Your Life Back and cannot recommend it more. It is life changing. I am currently listening to Godmothers and am also loving it:
Fiction:
I read fiction before I fall asleep. After Mikail passed away, I needed to read fiction to turn my brain off of the real life drama our lives were everyday. I found that I needed simple, idealistic, non-complicated books to read and found that reading Christian Fiction Amish books did just the trick. Nothing complicated, simple conflicts, and a guaranteed happy ending.
Currently I am reading Before We Were Yours and was looking forward to this New York Times Bestseller. It wasn’t until about page 70 that I got into the book and for me that is a loooong wait to be hooked, but now that I am, I can hardly wait until bedtime to read.
Which books are in your reading stack this year? I’d love to know.
