Do you make New Years Resolutions? I gave up on them a few years ago because I don’t seem to stick to them. What I did do a few times, that was successful, was choose a word for the year for myself to focus on. I haven’t done this for a while, but 2015 is the year I am doing this again.
I am choosing the word blessed. I am so incredibly blessed and with our current situation I am having a difficult time being thankful and seeing these blessings, but when I look at our life, we are truly blessed. So much to be thankful for. I am choosing to have a positive outlook on life and dig deeper in my faith. For months now doubt has been darkening my soul and where there is doubt, there is little room for faith.
Along with the word blessed I am choosing two pieces of scripture to meditate on this year. A reminder of God’s promises. A reminder that He has not forgotten me. He’s working on something new and wonderful:
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!
Luke 1:45
But forget all that—
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.
For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.
Isaiah 43:18-19
I’ve printed off reminders for myself and posted them around our little abode. A visual reminder of what I need to preach to my heart every. single. day.
Have you made an resolutions? Have you chosen a word or scripture to focus on this year? I’d love to hear about it.
I like your reminders. That is a great idea I will copy for my words. I chose three words this year: Speak – Space – Surrender. All three words represent an area of my life that I want to grow in. In some way they intersect with each other forming something I cannot yet put into words. I'm excited to see where a year of reflecting on these words will lead!

Love the words that you chose, Leona. I can't wait to hear how those words intersect for you this year.
