There is an old hymn written by Edward Mote in 1834 that gives me such assurance during these seasons of dreaming and waiting:
The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
When we have faith that is built on the solid rock of Christ, everything else is sinking sand. We will not be moved by what is happening around us. We rest in His grace and His hope.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
Matthew 7:24-26
When the storms of life life threaten to shake your faith, cling to the solid Rock. Meditate on His Word and follow His commands. Make God the focus, not the seemingly impossible circumstances. Remember, God placed these dreams and desires in your heart. He’s got this.
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Hebrews 11:6
God wants us to have Him as first place in our lives. He is our solid Rock. It is then that we can expect to have blessings beyond our imagination poured down upon us.
So, let’s Dream BIG!
Let’s seek God.
Let’s be blessed!
