Dreaming Big: Take hold of your dream

Often I get discouraged about my dreams not coming true. Perhaps it is fear taking hold of me. Perhaps it is this negative thought that I don’t ‘deserve’ to have my dreams come true.  Perhaps it is this feeling that I should be content with what I have, because what I have is pretty amazing when you think about it. Perhaps I need to put things into the perspective of what is happening all around the world. When I do this, I see that I am blessed beyond measure.

But God doesn’t want us to just be happy with what we have. He wants us to press on and become the best that we can become for His Kingdom – to live in complete joy, love, and peace. So, how do I get myself out of this frame of mind? I take hold of my dream. I try to see my dreams come to pass in my mind. I imagine what it would be like for this bigger than me dream, but not too big for God dream, to come to pass. 

True, it takes a bit more than just imagining our dreams coming true for them to actually come true, but it helps with our frame of mind. It helps me to press forward. It makes me think about my obedience to God.  It makes me think about prayer and what, in fact God has in His plan for our lives. When I take a hold of my dreams in my minds eye, and I am in line with God’s Word and in communication with Him, it helps guide me along that path to having that big dream come true.

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,
whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—
think about such things.
Philippians 4:8

Don’t let negative thoughts or doubts cloud your thinking. Think about what is noble and right; pure and lovely; admirable and excellent and praiseworthy. 

Fight the good fight of the faith.
Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called
when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
