A Max and Ruby Party

May is a big birthday month for us around here since Mikail and Olivia are only two days (and two years) apart. We jump at the opportunity to have a shared birthday party. Why not?

A couple of months before their birthdays they both began a love for Max and Ruby. For those of you who don’t know Max and Ruby, it is a TV show created by children’s author and illustrator Rosemary Wells and is based on the world of her Max and Ruby books. The TV episodes present stories about Max, a rambunctious and determined three-year-old rabbit, and his big sister, Ruby, a patient, goal-oriented, sometimes restrictive (and very bossy) seven-year-old rabbit.

How perfect for our kids. A Max party for Mikail and a Ruby party for Olivia. The other nice thing was that there aren’t really any party accessories that you can buy for a Max and Ruby themed party. So off I went to create my own decorations and ideas for their party. Thank you Pinterest for the help. It was a lot of fun and very budget friendly:

 The birthday girl…and her cupcakes.
 The birthday boy.
The birthday boy’s ‘mud cake’. Worms and all.
 Birthday ‘bunny’ snacks.
Bunny Chips and Dip
Shriveled Carrots (Cheezies)
ABC Pretzels
Bunny Berries
Veggie Patch (individual veggies and dip)
Lemonade
Water
Iced Tea
‘ Make a wish’
 Mmmm…pink icing.
 Pin the tail on Max.
 Presents.
 So excited about his presents.
 Loving her presents too.
We were going ‘low budget’, so the treat bags were completely homemade and consisted of:
A colouring pack.
And a Max and Ruby pinwheel craft.

I also made bunny ears instead of birthday hats, but since it was so beautiful outside the kids were wearing sun hats, so we will save the bunny ears for Easter next year.
Olivia and Mikail did wear their special hats on their actual birthday though.
I also made a birthday banner (that I didn’t get a good picture of) and many of these printables were found here if they aren’t linked up within this post:
The food labels, I created myself.
What fun, creating a party from scratch and not relying on stores to have just the right thing.

Hmmm…energy? What's that? Ha. My husband likes to watch TV together for an hour every evening and I can't sit still for that long, so I find ideas on Pinterest and create during that time. Win, win for us both.

Both birthdays on same day I suppose. Many congratulations! Hope the celebration went well. Heard a lot about rental spaces for parties in heart of our city and located at the outskirts as well. Want to make the 25th birthday of my younger sister very special. Planning her favorite food, drinks, cake and music party.
