When we bought Mikail’s crib, the lady we bought it from threw in a few sheets and a crib sized down duvet. We have never needed the down duvet because Oma made Mikail a lot of blankets and a beautiful crib quilt.
Now that camping season is here I think this down duvet is going to be perfect for these cool (*cold*) northern nights. The only thing is that the duvet didn’t come with a duvet cover. So, off to the store I went and looked for an inexpensive twin sized flat sheet that would work. I didn’t want to spend money on a zipper or bother with buttons and sewing button holes, so I went into my ribbon stash and decided that the closure of the duvet cover would be done with the ‘tie method’.
Seven dollars later and 30 minutes of cutting and sewing leaves us with a warm (and thrifty) camping solution. I love the final product:
I've done the same thing and now the duvet cover is thread bare and needs to be cut into rags. Such is life after 10 years…ha ha.Did you seal your ribbon ends with the heat from a candle?
